Inglewood Grass Height Limits Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

Inglewood's Property Maintenance ordinance under Chapter 11, Article 11 establishes comprehensive standards for residential landscaping. The property owner must permanently and continuously maintain all landscaping and irrigation in a neat, clean, and healthy condition, including removal of weeds and litter, proper pruning, mowing of lawns, fertilizing and watering, and replacement of diseased or dead plants and malfunctioning irrigation components.

Every residential front yard and any residential street side yard not enclosed by a solid fence or wall at least 4 feet in height must be landscaped with trees, shrubs, and lawn or ground cover, including the use of decorative rock materials. Concrete, asphalt, or comparable pavement in such yards is limited to only the minimum areas necessary for pedestrian footpath access to the structure and vehicle access to garages.

The Code Enforcement Division actively monitors for overgrown grass, weeds, and debris as part of its mission to enhance community beautification. Overgrown vegetation is treated as a public nuisance. Parkways must be landscaped with City-approved trees and with lawn, ground cover plants, and/or shrubs and flowers not exceeding 2 feet in height.
